Something Very Common

B12 InjectionsWhile reading a resto-review magazine, I stumbled on its health section. Something like an editorial of sort. The subject is about vitamin supplements. Being a health-buff that I am, I continued and this is what I found out.

Vitamin Supplements Give Us Additional Nutrients

Not that I don’t know about this topic, I got hooked due to Vitamin B12. In addition, vitamin B12 injections helps in the treatment of insomnia. B12, together with its siblings, are some of the vitamins that are recommended for those who are unable to sleep soundly  at night. The vitamin B-complex family is responsible for regulating sleep patterns and making it easier for people to fall asleep and have a sound rest during the night. It improves sleep quality as well so that you feel refreshed by the time that you wake up.

Supplements Improve Our Health

Of course, our doctors or physicians would not recommend vitamin supplements to us if they don’t help in the maintenance of our health. More importantly, these supplements can help make the immune system a lot stronger. This, in turn, increases and improves our defenses against common diseases so that we can live healthier and more fulfilling lives. It also lessens our risks of other diseases because our bodies are better equipped to fight foreign bodies like viruses and bacteria.

Does the information sound so common?

Exotic Encounter

exotic food | Tampa Hair Loss RestorationHave you encountered a restaurant wherein the menu are known disease with foreign or scientific name? Well, I have already eaten telogen (tologen) effluvium (ephluvium) and it tastes GOOD. If you will Google it, the “word” is actually a condition relating to hairloss.

Normally, Telogen Effluvium hair loss ends for some time and hair will grow back again. However, there are times that the hair loss becomes continuous or repetitive. In turn, the amount of hair loss becomes greater than normal hair loss due to shedding and persists for longer periods of time. There are even times that it continues for years. The hair cycle seems to reset so that the anagen period is shortened. The chronic version usually appears in women that could continue to have a very thick and moderate long hair, who shed more hair as compared to people who have finer or shorter hair. Telogen Effluvium though does not cause complete baldness if treated properly.

How to Treat Telogen Effluvium

Although Telogen Effluvium is self – correcting,  it is best if one does not rely on this because it can take years while you lose a lot of hair. This means that you need to undergo some treatment in order to regain the amount of hair that was lost. After treatment, it is also important that the person who has this observe gentler handling of the hair and to avoid forceful combing because this can trigger hair loss too. Any type of scalp massage is also preferred and indeed welcome for sufferers of Telogen Effluvium. A nutritious diet should also be observed in order to feed oneself with a good supply of iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid. You can also do some hair transplantation if the damage is severe. Check out Tampa Hair Loss Restoration for more information on this service.

One thing is for sure, the menu tastes so good and am willing to be back for more. Should I consider this as an exotic food?

Oh! Foods

foodsWhat type of person are you? If you are the type of person who can’t resist eating sumptuous foods, you can always turn to exercise. This method of weight loss does not only help you lose extra pounds but also helps keep you fit and healthy. You can be sure that you receive all the nutrients you need because you don’t cut off on any kind of food. Some of these nutrients may come out in your sweat but it is definitely less than what you will lose if you choose the wrong diets. Exercises can range from hardcore gym exercises to simple everyday jogging in the park. Any of these types of exercise are effective but the latter may take quite a while to show results. For faster weight loss, everyday exercise is recommended.

If you don’t want to wait long before losing weight, then you can also combine diets with exercise. However, you have to make sure that your diet still gives you the right amount of nutrients you need because you will need this energy to exercise. Not getting the right amount of nutrition can actually be detrimental to your health. Usually, those that combine exercise and diets still eat whatever they want but in smaller portions.

There are many different ways on how to lose weight but all of these require sacrifices. It takes a lot of determination and commitment in order to be able to diet or exercise everyday. It takes even more to do these things at the same time.

All your hard work really pays off once you’ve seen the results.

The Potted Smoked Praws

The potted smoked prawns and chicken liver mousse were delicious.  Best halibut I’ve ever had.  The wine was great.

My friends had the steak. They were happy that they asked for medium rare, and it came to them medium rare. They said that it was a bit salty and a bit too fatty, but the meat was good.  It ended up being $80 per person (which included wine and tip)

I Was Raised in Sherman Oaks

I was raised in Sherman Oaks and frequently go out to eat there with family.  This was easily the most delicious and sophisticated meal I have encountered. Valley dwellers!  No need to make the trek to A.O.C. for small french plates!  The influence of that restaurant on the menu and decor is palpable, but in all the best ways.

The duck rillette was a perfect start to the meal; not too salty or heavy but full of flavor.  The figs were a fun compliment to the exquisite pork belly, which quite literally melts in your mouth. The scallops were fresh and perfectly seared.  One of the best surprises was the Moroccan squash…such complex but well married flavors (even pomegranate!) Our server was very helpful in making all of these selections.

Another reviewer said the “wine selection kinda blows.”  My father (who I ate with) is quite the wine aficionado and was very impressed by the small but deliberately chosen list compiled by Paul Wasserman. He selected a young Bandol which opened up marvelously.

In short, run, don’t walk to Marche.  As if I haven’t given enough reason already, the food (nothing over $16, apart from some specials, I suppose) and the wine are both very reasonably priced.  Save yourself a $7.50 valet charge in WeHo and eat here!

Marché Restaurant Sunday Supper (our 6th visit)!

When my husband Peter and I fall in love with a restaurant, we fall MADLY. Especially so, when it’s just a few minutes away from our home in Studio City. Although we tried to show some restraint in the past few weeks, we have NOT been able to stay away from our (now favorite) neighborhood spot.

During our recent New Year’s Eve dinner at Marché, chef Gary Menes told us about his upcoming “Sunday Suppers”. Instead of the regular tasting menu (which we LOVE because we share multiple plates), there would be a 4-Course Prix Fixe dinner for only $30.

When we learned (on yet another visit) that Marché server Ashton Sullivan would be the evening’s entertainment, we decided to make this first “Marché Sunday Supper” a good old fashioned party by reserving a table for ten.

The atmosphere is so cozy at Marché, especially on a cold and rainy night. Our table hunkered down for a few hours of great food, drinks, soothing guitar by Ashton and of course lots of laughs. As my friend Lisa (@DailyWine) tweeted the next morning: “You’re doing something right when place is packed on a Sun in LA in the rain”. So true.

Menu for Marché Sunday Supper #1 [visit 6]:

1st Course: Romey Lettuce, Goat Cheese, Apples, Cider Vinaigrette.
2nd Course: Soup – Okinawa Sweet Potatoes, Leeks, Truffle Scented Creme Fraiche.
3rd Course: Beouf Bourguignon (cooked sous vide for 36 hours at  60 degrees celsius), Pomme Puree.
4th Course: Creme Caramel, Coconut Butter Cookies.
3rd course option (instead of the beouf bourguignon) was Blue Hubbard Squash, Wheat Berries, Smoked Pearl Onions, Sauce Soubise.

We loved every bite!

Went to Marche Last Night With Another Couple

Went to Marche last night with another couple. The PROS:
good food….good flavors…nice presentation….creative
The CONS:  Even the main plates are appetizer size.  To leave this restaurant NOT hungry..you need to order (as the waiter suggested) at least 3-4 main plates…..OUCH!  Watch the bill go over $50pp!  Fast!  By 7:30 they were already out of one of the specials (duck confit)..which since I am not a meat eater…left me with little choice other than the one fish selection.  Menu is limited…very.
If you want a trendy restaurant with admittedly good flavored and creative food…but with portions really too small to share or satisfy…unless you order a lot…..this restaurant is for you.
The 4 of us won’t be going back though.  Guess I’m in the minorty of reviewers….I love good food and creativity..but this to me doesnt have value.

Skylar Asked Me A Couple of Weeks Ago

Skylar asked me a couple of weeks ago if I wanted to check out Marche and I said yes. Not because I had read the Jonathan Gold article or even heard much hype. Because well, although I’ve heard the name, I’ve not heard the reason why people were going. Duh. I figured it out last night. The food IS GOOD. I really enjoy precisely cooked meals. Everything was very good. We started with the potted shrimp. Potted. This is kind of familiar. Duh. Gary Menes, the chef used to be at Palate Food + Wine in Glendale. Things are started to click in my head. The four of us got the tasting menu but two opted for the veggie version. $48 for the regular tasting menu, $46 for the veggie. The 5-course tasting menu counts the amuse bouche as a course. The vegs got some sort of tomato thingy for their amuse and we got the duck wing. Well, half a duck wing each. It was the most amazing duck wing ever. I wish I had a whole one. It was de-boned and served with a vaguely Asian-y sauce. I don’t know if my soup was vegetarian but it started with a veggie stock. The chef, it seems worked at the French Laundry honing his soup skills explained the server. In any case, I liked the little bits of garlic bread in it. The vegs had the ravioli. We had wonderful succulent, perfectly grilled shrimp that came on a bed of grains and peas. Next came the mains. The vegs had this extravaganza of veggies. We had steak and really fresh peas on a swirl of pureed parsnips. I loved everything on my plate. I was really into the fresh peas. But then I’d have a bite of the parsnips and fall in love. But the main attraction was the steak which was cooked JUST HOW I WANTED IT. Oh man, how often do I ask for medium rare and actually get medium rare? Hardly ever. I was so happy. After that, I was so full but time for dessert! We had a huge selection to choose from. I went with the chocolate pudding cake with salted caramel center served a la mode. Mm, yum. Valet parking available otherwise, there’s some street parking. There’s a tiny wine bar so I actually suggest sitting in the seemingly spacious main dining room. I didn’t do the wine paring but it’s an extra $40 and my dining companions felt it was worth it. I had a great glass of pinot noir. My total was $85 after tax and tip. What a treasure this place is!
